Kechris Winery

The story of Kechris Winery spans four generations, with family roots in wine dating to 1911 and Evangelos Kechris's pioneering vision for bottling wine in Greece. Kechribari was first produced in 1939 at the family's Kokoras restaurant in Thessaloniki, and E. Kechris Bros established the family winery in Kalochori in 1954. In the 1980s, oenologist Stelios Kechris transformed the business by combining scientific expertise with deep respect for Greek tradition. His mission was to elevate retsina from a local specialty to a world-class wine. That vision culminated in Tear of the Pine, a modern, barrel-aged retsina that redefined the category and earned international recognition. Today, Kechris Winery remains a family affair, with the fourth generation continuing to innovate while honoring its heritage and reshaping the global perception of retsina.
